Swiss Miss?

Why do airlines schedule connecting flights for less than an hour apart? I simply don't understand it.

Back in the fall when I booked our trip to Switzerland, I had to choose to have multiple connections. We were redeeming airline miles, so beggars can't be choosers. I booked DFW - CLE with an hour and a half layover, CLE - JFK with a 4.5 hour layover, and JFK - ZRH.

About a month ago, our flight was changed to DFW - PIT - JFK - ZRH with our connection time from DFW - PIT only being 50 minutes.
And, of course, our flight out of Dallas was delayed 30 minutes. Will we make it to PIT on time? If not, we're stuck...there are no PIT to New York flights after ours.

Will this be a Swiss Miss???

Luckily, we made our flight. I now sit in the really nice MasterCard lounge of the JFK airport sucking up the free wifi and sitting in the comfy chair.

The jacka-schmo across from me is a singleton sitting in a seat for two while people around us wait for seats. Not cool.

We barely made our flight. We only made it thanks to the fact that we were in row 9, had little as far as carry-ons, and were seriously just going to the next gate.

I mean it...I took this photo of our PIT-JFK flight loading while we were waiting to unload from our current (DFW-PIT) flight. We could see people loading the entire time we were taxing in. Scary!

And here is a photo from our PIT-JFK flight hoping they will unload our bags...

I can't believe we actually saw these people walk our bags over by hand and load it onto our flight.

Crazy!
